“Advanced eLearning Content for VET in Recycling Industry SME”

Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP) is currently carrying out a project partially funded by the Leonardo da Vinci Lifelong Learning programme titled “Advanced eLearning Content for VET in Recycling Industry SME”, in which PIAP performs the function of a project coordinator. The project consortium consists of four partners from four EU member states (Poland, Estonia, Germany and Slovakia).
The goal of the ALCVET project is to improve the quality and attractiveness of the European VET system by transferring, adapting and integrating innovative content and results created in the course of the previous LdV (Tramcar, ISAR) projects and the ICT Framework Programme (E-Mult, Beatrice-SME) into VET systems in the European countries.
In order to pursue these goals, the project aims to develop and supply a cost-effective comprehensive training system for recycling SMEs covering 3 topics:
•   recycling technologies,
•   process improvements and implementation of ICT systems, and
•   new forms of operation and SME networking.
The technical objectives of the ALCVET project are:
•    development of a set of courses in the three topic groups mentioned above,
•    inclusion of content connected with different recycling issues in these courses,
•    adaptation of the courses to local specifics of the project partners’ countries,
•    providing methodology enabling easy adaptation of the courses to diverse recycling areas and to local specifics of diverse countries,
•    delivery of the developed innovative content in the form of eLearning training courses suitable for transfer to the users' VET systems,
•    development of a range of training-support services using the innovative content and ICT solutions, including continuous content updating. The final adaptation of the courses will be performed in accordance with the requirements of bodies responsible for training certification in the project partners’ countries.

“Advanced eLearning Content for VET in Recycling Industry SME”

In the beginning of October 2008, we informed you in our PIAP newsletter of a new project that is being carried out by our Institute.  I would like to remind you that it is a project partially funded by the Leonardo da Vinci Lifelong Learning programme titled “Advanced eLearning Content for VET in Recycling Industry SME”, in which PIAP performs the function of a project coordinator. The project consortium consists of four partners from four EU member states (Poland, Estonia, Germany and Slovakia).
It has been a year since its commencement, so we have just completed the first half of the project. In our latest newsletter, we would like to inform you about the results of our works performed so far. So far, we have prepared about a dozen lessons in Polish and English versions located on the Moodle platform.  The lessons cover the issues related to the recycling of end-of-life vehicles and include content that can be divided into:
•    legal,
•    technical,
•    technological,
•    organisational,
•    economic,
•    information,
•    quality.

In the course of further project development, we are going to expand training content by other issues, such as recycling of electronic appliances and plastics.

We are also planning to update lesson materials by adapting them to changing regulations and local specifics of project partners’ countries. Moreover, we intend to adapt the lessons to the needs and requirements of specific target groups (less-qualified workers, managers, technical staff, trainers, consultants).

News and information on the project’s development can be found on the project’s website: www.alcvet.com.pl.
