Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP)


The Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements - PIAP was established in 1965. It belongs to the group of research institutes supervised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Presently PIAP employs 20 researchers with PhD (some also having the title of professor) and 86 researchers with MSc degrees. They are supported by a technical staff of 175 employees. The Institute comprises an Experimental Works for the production of mechanics and electronics in various sizes of series. Generally PIAP's activities are devoted to scientific and technical research, design, small and medium-sized production and to the introduction of modern automation techniques and systems, including robotics to industrial enterprises. In particular, PIAP has significant knowledge and experience in research, design, and implementation in industry. PIAP has considerable experience in managing national and international projects. PIAP was coordinator of both TRAMCAR and BEATRICE-SME EU projects as well as national projects funded by the Ministry of Environment Protection and the Fund of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) for making a courses in many technical, economical, legal and environmental and other aspects of car recycling for central and local administration and for owners and staff of the recycling SMEs.



Tartu Vocational Education Centre - (TVEC)


Tartu Vocational Education Centre - (TVEC) is the biggest vocational and further education centre in Estonia. It was founded in 2002 on the basis of four different schools - Tartu School of Industry (founded in 1922), Tartu School of Construction and Light Industry (founded in 1944), Tartu Training Centre (founded in 1970), Tartu Service School (founded in 1984). TVEC is the first municipally owned vocational and further education institution in Estonia. In addition to vocational training, TVEC also operates in the following areas: adult training, vocational pre-training, psychological counselling, career planning, offering different services as e.g. production in school’s workshops. There are ca 3000 students, plus 2000 adult learners per year in TVEC and there are more than 300 employees. TVEC offers trainings in 17 different fields which are divided into different curricula. Departments: industrial technology, construction and woodwork, ICT, service, light industry, foodstuff technology, beauty service business and commerce. In the field of industrial technology TVEC offers training on following specialties: car technician; metal work, welder, locksmith, electrician, mechatronics. TVEC has very good cooperation with employers and enterprises in South–Estonia and new trainings and  new curricula have been developed in cooperation with them. Different forms of study are available: daily and evening courses, distance learning (incl. eLearning), individual study etc. TVEC utilizes the state-of-the-art teaching methods and the opportunities of IT in the training programs. TVEC has many partners abroad and has successfully  participated in different  EU programs: Phare, ESF, ERDF, Leonardo da Vinci, Grundtvig etc.


Institute for Applied Systems Technology Bremen GmbH – (ATB)



Institute for Applied Systems Technology Bremen GmbH – (ATB), (Germany), was founded in 1991 as a non-profit organisation. The shareholders of ATB are the State and University of Bremen and a group of industrial companies among which are DaimlerChrysler, STN ATLAS Elektronik, and a number of SMEs from the Bremen region. The main strategic business areas of ATB are Systems Analysis & Design, Software Systems Technology and Knowledge Management. Within the area of Systems Analysis & Design, ATB is supporting enterprises to improve their business processes. Especially for SMEs ATB has developed the BEP Methodology for business process re-engineering and introduction of the supporting ICT solutions, which is the content of the eBEP eLearning system. ATB strongly addresses training issues and establishment of self-learning organisations in industry within a number of past and current projects. ATB supports companies to identify their needs and appropriate means for training specifically in reference to the introduction of advanced ICT solutions. In the scope of the PICK project ATB has developed tools for training of employees on topics relevant for knowledge sharing. In the LdV projects TRAMCAR (completed) and eBEP (to be completed soon), together with PIAP, ATB developed solutions for vocational training of employees in SMEs in the car recycling industry, as mentioned before. ATB and PIAP work also in the running IST project E-Mult, dealing with recycling SMEs networking.

KREDIT s.r.o. – company for education of adults (Kosice, Slovak Republic) was established by a group of experts in education of adults in 1994. The company cooperates with Swiss, British and other European educational and training organisations in development and implementation of long-term training programs for management in companies and state administration. Its services are offered in the whole Slovakia with main educational centre in Košice. The company is certified by the Slovak QM system STN EN ISO 9001:2000 and evidenced by certification audit by the German auditing company DEKRA-ITS. KREDIT offers training and consulting services and expert advisory related to development of human resources. The main objective of the expert advisory is to identify current conditions in an organization, to analyze needs and recommends further development, including appropriate VET. KREDIT implements flexible VET programs to adequately react to changing requirements of clients, and has its own know-how for training activities comprising distant studies, direct education and experiential learning. Training is based on study books for individual studies and on exercise books specified for seminars and trainings tailored to the identified needs. KREDIT offers VET programs for managers and experts, such as Company Economics and Management, Management and Development of Human Resources, etc. Also offered are computer courses, re-training for economic and administrative positions in SMEs etc. KREDIT cooperates with leading experts from industry and universities who guarantee the quality of VET as content authors and as lecturers.
